Kitto Lightweight Fairing Harness - Apco

The Kitto is a very lightweight, seat-board-less, clean-lined harness. Weighing in at less than 2.6 kg, the Kitto is lightweight, yet in keeping with APCO tradition, it makes no compromises on durability, safety, or comfort.

Kitto completes our range of XC pod harnesses, offering a hammock design that supports the body without incorporating the traditional board.

The origin of the name “Kito”, or “きっと” is a Japanese word that translates as: 'certainty' or 'without fail'.

Certainty is exactly what Kitto will give you, both in your flight decisions and in the confidence in your equipment!

The Kitto harness is designed to provide maximum wing responsiveness. Air foam creates a semi-rigid base for the seat, combining the weight advantages of a hammock-style harness with the "connection" of a sitboard harness. It will provide hours of uncompromising comfort.

Kitto is protected by a combination of airfoam + lexan, exclusive to APCO, which provides superior protective qualities.

The storage container and cable tie arrangement are separated and securely fastened with a zipper closure system that allows for very quick, low-friction opening.

The Kitto is compatible with our Flight Deck Lite, making it quick to install and remove as needed. The harness comes with a pre-installed three-step speed bar and foot bungee for easy entry after takeoff. The harness is also small, so when paired with a lightweight glider, it fits easily into a compact backpack, and can even be reversed into its own rear storage compartment, keeping it compact for packing.

Body geometry

Kitto is a seat-board-free design that provides hammock-like support. Properly configured, the harness provides equal support to all parts of the body, providing maximum comfort and a relaxed position during flight. The geometry and construction of the straps have been precisely tuned to find the perfect balance between comfort and activity. The Kitto will transmit exactly what the wing is doing, but in a reassuring, non-surprising way.

The goal was comfort without sacrificing weight or safety, which was achieved by having sufficient seat and lumbar support through the use of

lines connecting the sides of the hammock to the carabiners. The air foam protector provides additional support for the hammock seat, resulting in the desired activity and feel.

The harness is supplied with a factory default configuration so most pilots will not need to make further adjustments to the secondary support lines (green in the image).

Speed and aerodynamics

Particular attention was paid to the acceleration system. The position of the ball-bearing pulley was carefully positioned so that the harness does not tilt up or down while the speed system is engaged.

Regardless of your sail, you'll be amazed at how easy it is to push the throttle with this harness.

The Kitto has a highly aerodynamically efficient profile and an extremely clean surface to minimize drag!

The stretch fairing is made from the same PU-coated Lycra fabric proven in the Swift Sport and Zero harnesses. This fairing material is highly elastic, contributing to a very tight, wrinkle-free structure. The PU coating is windproof for a warm and cozy feel, even at the highest and coldest altitudes.

The back pocket is large enough to accommodate a lightweight backpack, water bladder, and more.

A zippered rescue bridle channel contributes to the harness's sleek surface and a secure reservoir deployment sequence.

Lightness

The Kitto was designed to be lightweight. That said, it's still a durable harness, and no shortcuts were taken with the construction or materials.

The footrest is made from our lightweight Polycomb material, a honeycomb polycarbonate composite.

Type of pilot

A lightweight pod harness that will suit all levels of riders who prefer a hammock-style harness rather than a seatboard design.

With no tendency to drastically fall to one side during asymmetric loading, or to twist easily, the harness will provide a very secure feel and help any pilot gain confidence and improve flying.
